I purchased these ceramic logs as a replacement for a much more expensive set while selling my house. They are well-packed and lightweight, but not solid. It takes a bit of effort to arrange them in a way that looks like real logs in the fireplace, but once set up, they look great. To set them up, I first added a layer of small black lava rock over the burner to disperse the flames. On top of that layer, I added the grate, and finally the logs. Initially, when I fired up the fireplace, the gas burned blue, but after a few minutes, the logs started glowing and the fire turned a more realistic yellow. The glowing red color adds to the realism of the logs, but the fact that they retain that much heat may imply that they won’t last that long. Regardless, for the price, they can’t be beat.
